| Suddenly it's September and Fall Fun Begins at the Sayre Public Library
Thursday September 10th
2009-The first TAC (Teen Advisory Council)
Meeting of the school year will be at 4:00pm. Open to teenagers ages 14
& older. This is a great way to get involved with your community and your
public library. It is also a wonderful way to meet other active students and
gain community service hours.
Saturday September 12th
2009- Kids! Please come and join us for ourCloudy with a Chance of Meatballs Program! The fun will begin at10:30am the program will include story time, crafts and snack! Register
at the front desk because you don’t want to miss out! Remember the
movie comes out September 18th
, 2009.
Wednesday September 16th
2009- Basic Computer Classes for adults are
back and will be available at 10:30am every Wednesday mornings. Please
register at the front desk. Space is limited.
Thursday September 17th
2009- We will be holding an Employment
Seminar for those seeking resources and services for employment. The
seminar will begin at 2:00pm-4:00pm with featured speaker, Patrick
Hoagland (Career Link Program Supervisor). Register at the front desk.
Tuesday September 22nd
2009- Interested in Quilting and how everything
is pieced together? Then please join us for our Quilting Seminar. The
seminar will begin at 6:00pm; please sign up at the front desk.
Wednesday September 23rd
2009- Pre-School story time is back and
going to kick off at 1:30pm. Join us for magnificent storytelling, crafts and
much more!
Thursday September 24th 2009- Apple Cider Day. Are you interested in
learning how apple cider is made? This seminar is for you! Keystone Cider
Mill will here to discuss the process of apple cider making and provide a
taste of the delicious drink. The program will begin at 6:30pm; please
sign up at the front desk.

Wednesday August 5th, 2009- Celebrating Reading Commemorating Life
Come
and Join us as we celebrate our Summer Reading Program as we get closer
to our final days. As well as remembering Suzanne M. Cochi and all that
she has done for the Sayre Public Library. The event will beginning at
10:30am. We will be having celebrity readers, cake and prizes!
Tuesday August 11th, 2009- Collage Craft Day
Get
ready to be creative! We will be having a collage craft night and story
time! The fun starts at 6:00pm-7:00pm! Don’t miss out on our LAST
TUESDAY CRAFT .
Wednesday August 12th, 2009- ~LAST DAY FOR SUMMER READING PROGRAM~ Fairies and Chimers
Kids,
join us as we go on a magical journey filled with fairies and mystical
creatures! The adventure starts at 11:00am! You don’t want to miss out
on the last day and all the wonderful prizes, snack, crafts and story
time!

August 18th, 2009- Fused Glass Jewelry Seminar
Come
and learn how the make this beautiful jewelry. The fused glass jewelry
seminar will begin at 6:00pm. Space is limited and open to adults and

the Author- Local author Laurie Merrick will be here to read her
published book titled Mama, Don’t. The program will begin at 6:00pm.

Dino Dig activity hosted by our special guests Mike and Roberta Straka.
Come and learn about dinosaur fossils and much more! The digging will
begin at 11:00am.
Tuesday July 14th, 2009-Meet
the Artist- Local artist Donna Kitchen will be here to discuss and show
her fine art paintings. The program will begin at 6:00pm.
Tuesday July 21st, 2009-
Twilight Jeopardy- Calling all Twilight fans, think you know everything
about the series and movie? Then come join us while we play jeopardy
and much more! The game will start at 6:00pm-7:30pm. Register at the

Friday July 24th, 2009- Door Sign Design Craft Day! Come and join us as we decorate and personalize our own bedroom signs. The crafting will begin
at 3:00pm -4:00pm. All kids invited. Please register at the front desk at the Sayre Public Library. Space is limited

Green Tomatoes Book Discussion-Please join us as we discuss the book
while enjoying some fresh fried green tomatoes, home -made buttermilk
biscuits and ice cold sweet tea provided by program participants. The
event will start at 6:00pm-7:00pm. Space is limited so register today

Wednesday July 29th, 2009-
Keppel’s Magical Show! Come and join us for a magical reading
experience with special guest Joe Keppel. The fun starts at 11:00am so
don’t miss out! Just a reminder: Wednesday mornings at 10:30am the Valley Kiwanis are here for the Summer Reading Program.
Join us for stories, a craft and snack for the children. We will also
have Tuesday evening events for kids so stay tuned. The Tuesday night
program runs from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Wednesday June 24th, 2009- Kick off for Summer Reading Program starting at10:30am with the Valley Kiwanis. Also, check out the Tuesday evening activities beginning on June 30th 6:00pm.
Friday June 26th, 2009- Flip Flop Craft Day
will start at 3:30 to 4:30pm. Bring your plain flip flop sandals and
get them summer ready by decorating them. You may also bring plastic
flowers, buttons to use.
Tuesday June 30th, 2009- Fused Glass Jewelry Seminar
featuring speaker Wanda Knapp. The seminar will provide participants
with an overview of fused glass and techniques used to make one of kind
glass jewelry. The seminar will take place at the Sayre Public Library
from 6:00-7:00pm.Registration is limited to 30 participants so please

Summer
Hours also begin on July 1, 2009 until September 8, 2009. Thursday
hours will now change to 10:00am-5:00pm. Saturday hours will also now
change to 10:00am-1:00pm.

Public Library will celebrate APAHM - - Asian
Pacific American Heritage Month
 Asian
Pacific American Heritage Month
(APAHM) is celebrated in May to commemorate the contributions of people of Asian and
Pacific Islander descent in the United
States.
Congress passed a joint Congressional Resolution in 1978 to
commemorate Asian American Heritage Week during the first week of May. This date
was chosen because two important anniversaries occurred during this time: the
arrival of the first Japanese
immigrants in America on May 7, 1843 and the completion of the transcontinental
railroad (by many Chinese laborers) on May 10, 1869. Congress later
voted to expand it from a week long to a month long
celebration.
